A Study on Assessments of the Chronic Illness Patients for the Rehabilitative Nursing Care

Abstract
|
|
|
Purposes of this study were
1) To assess the functional status and the level of the ADL (activities of daily living) on the subjects 2) To identify 165 patients´ needs of nursing home.
The subjects were one hundred sixty-five inpatients at the general ward of Korea Veterans Hospita.. The period of data collection was from June 10 to June 20, 1988.
Questionnaire were used for collecting data. Barthel Index were applied to measure the ADL (activities of daily living) of the subjects.
The results of this study were summarized as follows:
1) 89 patients (53.9%) were over 51 years of age.
2) 82 patients (49.7%) who had been admitted for diagnosis and evaluation experienced over 2 month lengths of stay.
3) 12 patients were 0 in Barthel Score and 44 patients were between the score of 1 and 40.
4) 48 patients among 165 had problems of constipation, 9 patients decubitus ulcer, and 84 patients sleep disturbances.
5) 88 patients (53.3%) wanted to reside in the nursing homes after discharged the hospital.
